David Kanji Sasaki
David Kanji Sasaki of Lihu‘e died April 17, 2004, at his home at the age of 74.
A retired jet mechanic inspector with the federal government, he also served in the United States Army.
He is survived by two daughters: Shirley Tani of Kaua‘i and Alice (Darryl) Sasaki-Yamamoto of Kaua‘i; one sister: Hanako Matsuo of Japan; and two granddaughters: Deirdre (Robert) Takamiya of Mililani, O‘ahu and Rochayne Tani of Kaua‘i.
Services have been scheduled for Monday, May 3, at the Lihue Hongwanji Church. Visitation starts at 4:30 p.m. Services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Inurnment will be on Saturday, May 8, at the Honolulu Memorial Gardens at 10 a.m. Refreshmentrs will be served at the Hongwanji Church on the Pali Highway.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
Ruth Akie Nakamoto
Ruth Akie Nakamoto of Pearl City, O‘ahu, died April 19, 2004, at Kapiolani Medical Center at Pali Momi at the age of 87.
Born Feb. 15, 1917, in Lihu‘e, she was a retired office manager for Kaua‘i Community College and a member of Kapa‘a United Church of Christ.
She is survived by one son: Wayne (Beverly) Nakamoto; one daughter: Carol (Miguel) Asuncion; five grandchildren; sister: Liberty Torigoe; nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be after 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 30, at Central Union Church in Atherton Memorial Chapel on O‘ahu. Memorial service will begin at 6 p.m.
The family requests casual attire. Arrangements are being handled by Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary.
Roy Yoshio Tada
Roy Yoshio Tada of Honolulu, died on April 22, 2004, at Maunalani Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 98.
Born May 26, 1905, in Lihu‘e, he was a retired manager for Tip Top Cafe.
He is survived by son: Wallace Iwao (Nancy) Tada of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughters: Helen (Harry) Iwata of Honolulu; Nancy (Melvin) Nakamura of Honolulu and Jane (Calvin) Sasil of Virginia; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Private services were held. Arrangements were handled by Hosoi Garden Mortuary.
