William “Uncle Willy” Yadao
William “Uncle Willy” Julian Leandro Yadao of Kilauea died April 21, 2004, at his home at the age of 70.
Born Feb. 20, 1934, he worked for the County of Kauai Parks and Recreation Department on the North Shore. He was an avid cowboy, fisherman, hunter, farmer and also served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean war.
Preceded in death by his parents, Leandro and Helen Yadao and brother Stanley Yadao, he is survived by his wife: Carletta Yadao of Kilauea; three daughters: Yvonne (William) McKeown, Donna Yasay and Deeann (Nolan) Rapozo; two sons: Leland Yadao and Llewellyn Yadao; one half brother Barry (Evelyn) Yadao; two stepchildren, Kalinda Unruh and Tani Wojinski; two brothers: Stanwick (Marie) Yadao of Hanama‘ulu and Wesley (Karen) Yadao of Waimea; five sisters: Becky Kualu of Kekaha, Agnes Mahinai of Anahola, Bernice Ragragola of Waimea, Grace Hislop of California, and Evelyn (Valeriano) Olores of Kekaha; 19 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held at noon on Sunday, April 25, at Black Pot Beach in Hanalei. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Maria Fernandez Cadiz
Maria Fernandez Cadiz of Kapa‘a, died at Wilcox Hospital on April 17, 2004, at the age of 99.
Born March 22, 1905, in the Philippines, she is survived by two daughters: Ofelia (Alfredo) Manibog of Lihu‘e and Mayrose Cadiz of Kapa‘a; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services have been scheduled for Saturday, April 24, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapa‘a. Visitation starts at 8 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
