Subject: Only one choice
I have to agree with Judy Brennan, “why are the Democrats afraid to let people determine this issue?” – the issue being local school boards. On 4/14, TG1 reported “Democrats in the House and Senate overwhelmingly defeated proposals to LET voters decide on creating local school boards.” The polls show that an overwhelming percentage of Hawaii voters are in favor of local school boards. The legislators seem to feel they are smarter than us and want to continue to patch a system which is clearly broken. It just burns me that these legislators, including all four of Kauai’s own, voted to prohibit our direct participation in resolving such an important issue.
We have only one choice. We should kick them out. Some of us may like and respect our legislators, but if they do not represent our view, of what value are they? Election day is not far off. Let’s not let them continue to ignore us.
