The girls basketball playoff game to determine the winner of round one will be played Monday night at the Kaua‘i High School Gym starting at 7 p.m.
Farren Higley and Ulu Kelekoma both fouled out early in the fourth period Friday night to leave the Raiders vulnerable to the Menehune who went on to post a 52-44 win forcing the Monday night playoff.
In the Friday night JV contest, Kaua‘i High School battled back from a 17-19 halftime deficit to post a 38-32 win behind a balanced scoring attack led by Carie Inouye’s nine points (7-10 free throw), Cherisse Rapozo’s eight points (6-11 free throw), Darcie Allianic’s seven points (4-6 free throw), and Ho‘onani Dennis’s six points (4-8 free throw). A pair each by Mei Ling Keopuhiwa and Tahnee Shigematsu rounded out the JV Raider math.
Elysse Sato and Meredith Hudson each netted seven points to lead Waimea followed by Krystle Manguba-Glover adding four, Krystal Kelley and Sheila Ramos adding three points each.
Lexine Valenciano was held to just two points in the outing, both markers coming from the free throw line.
