Equal voting
If our votes are going to count for something, we have got to change the date of the General Election for Hawai‘i voters from November 2 to November 1. The spotlight of such an important day would be on the 50th State of Hawai‘i, where our votes would begin to be meaningful rather than meaningless.
It’s downright disheartening, knowing that most of the votes in the upper 49 U.S. states, have either been counted or the outcome is already a foregone conclusion. I have often wondered if our votes made a difference in the final analysis, other than to inflate the numbers of the winners and losers who have already won or lost, even as we are preparing for bed.
In fairness to our Hawai‘i voters, a revision and consideration to such a monumental event has got to be looked at closely, without delay, fanfare, extended studies and ineffective panels. Anyone for an overhaul?
