Saburo Itakura, 80, reported missing late last week, was found in good condition last Friday evening, according to county officials.
A pair of accidents also last week sent two young Kauaians into intensive-care units on O‘ahu and at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
A young girl involved in an accident last Wednesday along Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of Wailua Golf Course and Kauai Community Correctional Center had been in the ICU at Wilcox. She has been released, and is recovering at home, said Cyndi Mei Ozaki, county public information officer.
A 6-year-old Wailua Homesteads boy hit by a car while running to catch a school bus, Wednesday morning, is also improving. He was injured along Opaekaa Road, treated at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, then flown to The Queen’s Medical Center for further treatment.
Originally in critical condition in Queen’s ICU, his condition has been improving, too, family members said. When Ozaki called Queen’s to inquire about his condition, she was told the boy isn’t listed as a patient there. That may mean that the family has asked that no information about his condition be given out, or that he has been released.
