Justin Vea tops at Junior Sectionals
Second-seed Justin Vea defeated top seed Erik Shoji , 3-6, 7-6(8), 6-2 to claim the Boys 14 Singles title at the Barber’s Point Spring Junior Sectional Championship played Mar. 20-23.
Vea got to the finals by getting past fourth seed Spencer Choy, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.
Jordan Kukino, a player for the Kaua‘i High School boys tennis team, picked up second place in the Boys 18 Singles competition, third seeded Kukino falling to second seed Hyatt Bailey in the finals, 6-2, 5-7, 2-6.
Kukino advanced in the Barber’s Point Spring Junior Sectional Championship played Mar. 25-28 by defeating fifth seed Bryce Silva, 6-4, 6-4 in the semi finals of that event.
K-PAL invites youngsters to Hit Pitch & Run
The Kaua‘i Police Activities League (K-PAL) would like to invite all boys and girls between the ages of 7 – 14 to come out and join their free Hit, Pitch, & Run competition this Saturday, Apr. 3 at the New Kapa‘a Ball Park (across from the Armory).
There will be six winners in four age divisions.
Prizes include trophies, ribbons, and lots of goodies donated by Big Save, Inc., Kintaro’s Restaurant, Honu by Juny, Wallace Theaters, Smith’s Wailua River Cruise, Aloha Beach Resort, Kaua‘i Beach Resort, Block Buster Video, Kapa‘a Paint, Pono Market, Kaua‘i Mortgage, Mary Thronas, Lucy Shannon Realty, Dippin’ Dots ice cream, Smith Chiropractor, Kealia Makai, Rotary Club of Kapa‘a, and more.
Winners also qualify for the regional finals that will be held on Maui, and a chance to attend the Major League Baseball All-star Game.

Demo Day this weekend
A trip to Ireland for two will leave with someone who attends the Demo Day this Sunday, Apr. 4 at the Puakea Golf Course from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The Deep Red II Distance Irons and Maxx Drivers by Wilson will also be available and patrons making purchases can have custom club fitting with iron purchase.
Golf Digest’s pick for the #1 Hot Irons will also be demonstrated.
Among some of the new items, the new ERC Fusion Driver and HX Tour Golf Ball along with a full line of 2004 clubs, balls, and putters by Callaway Golf will be available for trial during the Callaway Golf Demo Day, Saturday, Apr. 3. from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
HSF meet this weekend
The H.S.F. Kaua‘i/YMCA Contest #4 will be held this weekend, Apr. 3, or 4 at the Kealia Beach Break.
Divisions include Menehunes 11 & Under, Boys 12-14, Junior Men 15-17, Open Men 18-24, Girls 17 & Under, Women 18 & Over.
Also included will be Boys Body Board (14 & Under, and Junior Body Board 15-17.
