Kaua‘i Police Department officials have identified the man found dead in a car near Fuji Beach in Kapa‘a last Wednesday as John S. Hartel, 48, of Kapa‘a.
Hartel was found when KPD officials received an anonymous call requesting they check on a man in a vehicle in Kapa‘a, said Cyndi Mei Ozaki, county public information officer.
He was found in his vehicle on the northbound shoulder of Moanakai Road, which is near Fuji Beach, she added.
An autopsy indicated Hartel’s cause of death to be a blood clot in his head. She said no foul play is suspected.
