A continuation of blustery tradewinds and windward and mountain showers is forecast for Kaua‘i until the end of the week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
As a shear line, or weakening front, remains over the island chain through the work week, expect a repeat performance of yesterday’s weather until possibly Friday, the NWS forecast office in Honolulu released yesterday.
Moderate to fresh trade winds, likely between 15 to 25 miles per hour, are also expected to continue through this period.
The NWS has also continued a high surf advisory for north and east-facing beaches through today.
According to the NWS, a series of north to northeast swells will be affecting the north and east shores through the week. Surf heights along east-facing shores, expected to reach 8 to 12 feet today, will remain near or above the advisory level of 8 feet through Friday, reinforced by north swells today and Wednesday.
Surf heights along north facing shores are expected to reach advisory levels of 15 feet today, and continue through Wednesday.
The NWS forecast wave heights reflect the wave face, not the backs of waves, which is the Hawaiian tradition.
