AYSO Region 941 registration coming
The AYSO Region 941 registration will take place on Friday, Apr. 16 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Kapa‘a Middle School, and the Kilauea Neighborhood Center.
Region 941 serves the area from Haena to Wailua Homesteads.
Lum Tucker part of Vulcans’ victory
LA‘IE, O‘ahu – The University of Hawai‘i at Hilo women’s tennis team got off to a strong start with a 9-0 beating of Mills College (Calif.) Friday in the first of six matches on O‘ahu.
In all, the Vulcans gave up just two games in five matches as Mills defaulted on three matches.
In singles, Dorothee Beauvir beat Rebekah Levy (6-0, 6-0), Mai Fujii beat Emma Panui (6-0, 6-0) and Tiana Lum-Tucker beat Molly Maguire (6-0, 6-0).
In doubles, Michiko Tanaka and Fujii beat Levy and Maguire (8-0), Lum-Tucker and Beauvir beat Panui and Miya Sneed (8-0), and Krystal Hangai and Estelle Vicquenault beat Ayako Oshima and Kassi Kappelos (8-2).
Long distance canoe race on Mar. 27
Pu‘uwai Outrigger Canoe Club will be hosting a long distance race on Saturday, Mar. 27 with the men’s team races going from Anahola to Wailua starting at 8 a.m.
The women, Mixed, and Na Opio classes will start at 10 a.m. from Wailua and finish at Kalapaki.
Organizers remind paddlers that the course is subject to change due to weather conditions.
Da Finest Lads and Da Finest Ladies awards will be presented at the lunch and awards which will follow the race at the Nawiliwili Tavern from about noon.
