Baby Brooke Hokuaonani Scribner, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 1, 2004.
Born in Lihu‘e, on Mar. 1, 2004, she is survived by parents, Jay and Pua Scribner; paternal grandparents, Vernon and Patricia Scribner of Lawa‘i; maternal grandparents, Virginia and Bruce Kemp of California; maternal grandfather, Arthur Pia of Lihu‘e; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Services were private.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Robert M. Sugita
Robert M. Sugita of Wailua, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 27, 2004, at the age of 74.
Born in Waipouli, Kaua‘i on March 1, 1929, he is survived by his wife, Ellen; son, Stanford of Wailua; two daughters, Lynn (Bobbie) Kubota and Lori Sugita both of Wailua; six grandchildren; brother, Minoru (Patsy) Sugita of Wailua; sister, Sue (Yasu) Nakamatsu of Wailua. Services were private.

John Vales
John Vales of ‘Oma‘o, died March 14, 2004, at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home at the age of 87.
A supervisor for McBryde Sugar, he was born July 20, 1916, in ‘Oma‘o.
He is survived by his wife: Mary T. Vales; two daughters: Mary Jane Borrero and Dolores Hatch; and one son: Richard Vales; sisters: Lucy (Sandalio) Pacheco, Virginia (Cobo) Torres, Carmen (Daniel) Rivera, Emily (Martin) Toledo; brothers: William (Lita) Vales and Henry (Dora) Vales; 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 9 to 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, at St. Raphael’s Church with service to begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Church Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
David Oganeku
David Oganeku of Hanapepe died at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on March 4, 2004, at the age of 79.
Born on Kaua‘i on June 15, 1924, he was a machinist, construction worker, restaurant proprietor and a World War II veteran.
He is survived by his son, Karl (Melody) Oganeku of Kapa‘a, three daughters, Joy Oganeku of San Francisco, Calif., Ruby (Richard) Doral of Houston, Texas and Cynthia (Norio) Niihashi of Toyohashi, Japan; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Masako (Denji) Murayama of Lihu‘e. Services were private.

Dorothy Goo
Dorothy Goo of Kapa‘a, died at home on March 14, 2004, at the age of 68.
Born in Lihu‘e on May 7, 1935, she was a cook with Tasty Foods.
She is survived by husband, Christian K.C. Goo of Niumalu; son: Christian K. C. Goo Jr.; three daughters: Christine Healani Irizarry of Hilo, Donna Fernandez of O‘ahu and Dorothy “Lani” Goo of Kaua‘i; six grandchildren; two brothers, Wallace Kupihea of Kaua‘i and Henry (Mona) Kupihea of Nevada; six sisters, Grace Fitzgerald of Kaua‘i, Elaine Watson of Kaua‘i, Lana Rosa of Kaua‘i, Debra Muff of Florida, Mary Maunakea of Texas and Kelani Torres of Iowa.
Private services will be held at a later date.
