Kungo Iwai of Lihu‘e, died at home on Feb. 24, 2004 at the age of 85.
Born in Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i on February 16, 1919, he was a revenue officer with the federal Internal Revenue Service and also a veteran with the 100th Infantry Battalion.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred M. Iwai; four sons, Tag (Barbara) Iwai of Daly City, Calif., Chuck Iwai of Honolulu, Noel Iwai of Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, and Cliff (Sachiko) Iwai of Santa Monica, Calif.; daughter, Susan (Matthew) Honjiyo of Wailua; grandson, David Iwai of Victoria, B.C., Canada; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were private.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
