Kaua‘i Democrats, and those wishing to join the party, are being invited to gather at locations across the island on Tuesday night.
Under new Democratic Party rules, any registered voter can sign up to join the party beginning at 6:30 p.m., according to a report found on www.hawaiidemocrats.org.
From 7 to 7:30 p.m. all Democrats who are registered to vote on Kaua‘i are being invited to cast a vote in what’s being called the “Presidential Preference Poll” on what the Democrats are calling “Super Tuesday” night.
Kaua‘i Democrats, and Democrats from across Hawai‘i, are playing a more important roll this year in deciding who will be the Democratic candidate for president this fall.
Hawai‘i’s Democratic Caucus is now scheduled much earlier in the year than most of the large states. In the past the Hawai‘i caucus vote had little impact on deciding who the Democratic candidate would be due to being held late in the primary campaign season.
Democratic voters on Kaua‘i are reporting that they are receiving pre-recorded calls from the campaign of Democratic front-runner Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts.
