A high surf warning remained in effect last night for north and west facing shores.
Today surf is expected to be in the 12 to 18 feet range on the North Shore, according to a report from the National Weather Service.
Surf along the Westside is forecast to be 8 to 14 feet through today.
Both shores are expected to have high surf through Sunday.
North shore beaches remain closed Friday due to the high surf
For the second day, County of Kaua‘i lifeguards closed beaches to swimmers and snorklers on the North Shore.
Beaches affected include Makua Beach (Tunnels) and Ke‘e Beach at Ha‘ena.
Surf was reported to be running as high as 25 feet on Friday.
The beaches at Polihale on the Westside were also closed due to high surf.
Though Hanalei Bay remains open, the bureau urges swimmers to exercise caution, and consult a lifeguard before entering the water.
