An 11-year-old girl riding her bicycle in front of her house on Kekaha Road Monday afternoon was struck by an alleged drunk-driver.
At 4:13 p.m., the child was struck in front of 8730 Kekaha Rd., riding her bicycle out of her driveway into the pathway of oncoming traffic, said Cyndi Mei Ozaki, county public information officer.
The girl was treated at and released from Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, and sustained no critical injuries, Ozaki said.
The driver, Mary Lyman Viela of Kekaha, was traveling eastbound, Ozaki said.
At 4:45 p.m., Viela was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of intoxicants, and second-degree causing negligent injury.
