UH Bauer WAC Pitcher of the Week
University of Hawai‘i right-handed pitcher Ricky Bauer and Rice infielder Adam Morris have been named the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week.
Bauer, a junior from Kaneohe (Mid Pacific Institute) pitched eight innings, allowing one unearned run and six hits while striking out four and walking non in a 14-6 win over Florida International Friday. Bauer faced the minimum for the first six innings and has not allowed an earned run in his last 15 innings.
It is Bauer’s first career WAC Pitcher of the Week award.
Morris, a junior from Conroe, Texas hit .500 (4-8), drove in a team-high five runs and scored twice as Rice won two of its three games last week. Three of his four hits went for extra bases as he had a triple, a double, and a grand slam, the latter two coming against Kansas State on Sunday. Morris had a .556 on-base percentage and a 1.125 slugging percentage for the week.
It is Morris’ first career WAC Player of the Week award.
LBL baseball registration coming
The Lihu‘e Baseball League announces the registration for their Mustang/Bronco players and coaches for the 2004 season.
Registration will begin on Monday, Feb. 23 and run through Mar. 5 at the LBL portable building next to the Lihu‘e County Park from 5 to 6 p.m.
Mustang eligible players must be born between Aug. 1, 1993 to July 31, 1991, and eligible Bronco players born between Aug. 1, 1991 to July 31, 1993.
Interested players need to bring two copies of their birth certificate and two copies of their medical insurance card.
The LBL is also looking for interested coaches for the upcoming Mustang and Bronco season.
Anyone interested in participating must apply. Application forms are available at the portable building next to the Lihu‘e county Park between Feb. 23 and Mar. 5.

NYC Auntie Louise race Thursday
The Nawiliwili Yacht Club’s Auntie Louise Memorial Race Series continues this Thursday, Feb. 19.
The five-race series which started last week is in honor of club member Auntie Louise Marston who passed away last year.
The second race of the series will start at 5 p.m. at Nawiliwili Harbor, and the public is invited to view the race from the harbor jetty as well as attend the gathering at the Nawiliwili Yacht Club clubhouse immediately following the race.
