Suzuyo Yamamoto of Kapa‘a, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 9, 2004 at the age of 87.
Born in Hanama‘ulu, on May 26, 1916, she was a bookkeeper with Wailua Service Station.
She is survived by her husband, Masao; two sons, Robert (Kazuko) Yamamoto of San Mateo, Calif. and George Yamamoto of Kapa‘a; two daughters, Kathleen Yamamoto of Kapa‘a and Jan (Alan) Matsuzaki of Los Angeles, Calif.; brother, Harry Yamamoto of Hilo, Hawai‘i; two sisters, Fay Okita of Honolulu, O‘ahu and Tomeko Shinozawa of Pearl City, O‘ahu; two sisters-in-law, Florence Yamamoto and Lauretta Yamamoto both of Honolulu, O‘ahu; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the Kapa‘a Hongwanji Mission; service at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.

Arnold J. Hoffman, M.D. to run 2/13, 2/14, 2/15 nc
Arnold J. Hoffman, M.D., 69, of Kilauea, Kaua‘i, passed away on Feb. 5, 2004.
Born in Baltimore, Md. He received his medical degree from the University of Maryland.
His practices in Hawai‘i included Hanalei Clinic, Lihue Family Health Center, Kaiser Foundation and The Queen’s Health System at the Wailana Clinic.
He was also the medical director for E.M.S. for many years and founded OccuHealth Kauai when he retired from clinical practice.
He is survived by his wife Pamela, of Kilauea, father William Hoffman Sr. of Kapa‘a, brother William (Bill) Jr. of Pittsburgh, Penn., son Michael Brian of Kilauea and daughter Lisa of Saco, Maine, as well as many, many grateful patients and admiring friends.
A memorial gathering is planned for Sunday, Feb. 15, at Anini Beach Park at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the American Cancer Society on Kaua‘i, P.O. Box 28 Hwy., Lihu‘e HI 96766 and to the Kaua‘i Food Bank, 3825 Waapa Rd, Lihu‘e HI 96766.
