Florence Matsumoto
Florence Kawahineholukaweluolimaloa (Robinson) Matsumoto, of Waimea, died at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on February 6, 2004 at the age of 91.
Born in Waimea, on August 11, 1912, she was a graduate of the Kamehameha Schools on O‘ahu and an Elementary School Teacher.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Kenneth “Sheik” Matsumoto and three year old daughter, Elizabeth “Snookie” Matsumoto. She is survived by brother, John Robinson of Waimea; sister, Josephine (Honey) Fisher of Connecticut; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Services were private.
Arrangements were held by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Fujiko Tao
Fujiko Tao of Koloa, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on February 2, 2004, at the age of 87.
Born in Koloa, on November 30, 1916 she was a housewife.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Tao of Los Angeles, Calif., and Bette (Stanley) Kobayashi of Kalaheo; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hisashi (Sue) Nakatsuka of Koloa and Mitsugi (Violet) Nakatsuka of Pearl City, O‘ahu; four sisters, Betty Kondo of Lawa‘i, Sue Tamanaha of Kane‘ohe, O‘ahu, Lillian (Sam) Higuchi of Honolulu and Aiko (Takeshi) Yamashiro of Los Angeles, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, at Kalaheo Missionary Church; service officiated by Rev. Niles Kageyama, Senior Pastor of Koloa Missionary Church will begin at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Ronald Matsusaka
Ronald K. Matsusaka of Hanapepe, died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on February 10, 2004 at the age of 56.
Born on June 14, 1947 in Honolulu, O‘ahu, he was Laborer Foreman with Kauai Builders.
He is survived by two sons, Clifford (Cheri) Matsusaka of Hanapepe and Kalani Matsusaka of Kalaheo; daughter, Staci Ilima Matsusaka of Kalaheo; parents, Edward and Shizue Matsusaka of Kekaha; sister, Diane (Gilman) Apo of Kekaha and 9 grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, at the First Assembly King’s Cathedral in ‘Ele‘ele Shopping Center; service to begin at 10 a.m. Followed by burial at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Casual attire is suggested.

Clifford Ray Chong
Clifford Ray Chong of Nanawale Estates died on Jan. 24, 2004, at Hilo Medical Center at the age of 49.
Born in Honolulu, he retired from the hotel and restaurant industry, he was a stained glass artist and participated in numerous arts and crafts events in Hilo.
He is survived by his companion, Christopher Snyder of Nanawale Estates; son, Clifford Chong, Jr. of Honolulu; sistgers, Valkyrie Wofford of Honolulu; and Diana Chong of Waianae; brother, John Chong of Kaua‘i; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 14, at Maili beach park, O‘ah u at noon.
