County 12U Boys basketball roll on
Kea Lopez and Galen Lee scored 12 points each as Kalaheo dismantled the Lihu’e Maniacs 44-23 on Jan. 21 at Kalaheo as the county’s 12U boys basketball season continues.
Cameron Largusa led the Maniacs with 11 points in the effort.
Silas Tacsiat notched a dozen points to lead No Hard Feelings to a 30-26 advantage over the Eastside team that saw Jason Iloreta lead the effort with nine points.
On Jan. 22, Alex LaMadrid and Kyle Van Auskirk each netted ten points to lead Eastside to a 44-24 showing over the Lihu’e Lakers who were led by Davene Florence at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Largusa netted a game-high 11 points for the Lihu’e Maniacs who fell to Second to None, 24-22, the Maniacs being led by Rilen Bayot’s eight points.
Out in Kilauea, Florence and Tommy Moreno led the Lakers to a 26-20 win over Kilauea on Jan. 21, Kilauea being led by Torren Kimura.
Kausi Lomu notched 11 points to lead Wailua to a 26-22 win over the Lihu’e Enforcers who were led by Rysan Sakamoto’s six points.
2004 Boatwright Internship available
The Hawai’i State Junior Golf Association (HSJGA) is offering an 8-month USGA P.J. Boatwright Internship beginning Apr. 1.
The internship program was established by the U.S. Golf Association to give experience to individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in golf administration, while assisting state and regional associations, as well as other non-profit organizations dedicated to the promotion of amateur golf, on a short term, entry-level basis.
The intern will work closely with HSJGA’s tournament director in handling tournament preparations, tournament administration, and post-tournament business as well as on-course operations on four islands. Other duties will include work-related to fundraisers, workshops and the general operations of the administrative office.
A prospective intern should demonstrate strong managerial potential and a sufficient interest in golf. The HSJGA will provide an appropriate level of orientation and ongoing training and attention.
The USGA limits the earnings of the internship to $13,500.
Not eligible for hire are former Boatwright interns, USGA employees or their relatives, USGA committee members or their relatives, as well as HSJGA and organization officials or their relatives.
