Michael Souza
Michael Lee Souza of Kapa’a died Jan. 14, 2004, at the age of 36.
A decorated sergeant in the U.S. Air Force Info Services, he was born Oct. 11, 1967, in Lihu’e.
He is survived by his mother, Nalani Aka Prigge (Robert) Stevenson, father: Duane (Moana) Souza; sister, Marlo Aka Souza (Reno) Alaipalelei; maternal grandmother, Anna (Dennis) Knapp-Thuente); paternal grandmother: Virginia Souza; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Rudolf Prigge and paternal grandfather William Souza.
Services will be held Friday, Jan. 23, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa, viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. with services from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery at 2 p.m.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kauai Mortuary.
Neri Agpaoa
Neri Agpaoa, of Hanama’ulu, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Jan. 16, 2004 at the age of 53.
Born in Pasuquin, Philippines on May 26, 1950, she was a cashier with Marriott Restaurant.
She is survived by husband, Orlando; son, Larry; brother, Cresencio (Elma) Abad of Puhi; sisters, Angelita Baniaga of ‘Ele’ele, Lily (Celestino) Farinas of Las Vegas, Nev., and Fe Abad of Hanama’ulu.
Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; friends may also visit at 9 a.m. on Friday Jan. 23, at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church; service to begin at 10 a.m. Followed by burial at Lihue Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Esmenia Barba
Esmenia Yadao Barba, of Kekaha and Chino, Calif., died on Jan. 15, 2004 at her residence in Chino and now rests in peace. Born in Kilauea on July 15, 1928, she was 75 years old.
She is survived by her loving husband, Anselmo G. Barba of Kekaha; two sons, Paul (Sharlene) Barba of Kekaha, Stanford (April) Barba of Lihu’e and one daughter, Selma (Calvin) Myles of Chino, Calif.; six siblings, Sally Pasion of Hanama’ulu, Paula (Santiago) Cadaoas of Oma’o, Gloria (Andres) Acoba of Kalaheo, Veronica (Robert) Cook of Wailua Homesteads, Karen Guillermo of Irvine, Calif., and Cisario “Sonny” Yadao of Hillsboro, Ore., four grandchildren; Joshua and Christen Myles, Kierra Barba and Desiree Barba.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church in Kekaha. Service to begin at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Kekaha Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
