LIHU’E — The people of Kaua’i are being reminded of the island’s Polynesian cultural ties in the South Pacific this week during the visit of a delegation from Tahiti in French Polynesia.
The Tahitian group is being hosted by the Na Hula ‘O Kaohikukapulanihula halau, and participated Monday morning in the Kauaian Days Makahiki event held at Vidinha Stadium. Kumu hula Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza is helping to facilitate the visit.
The Tahitians are paying a visit that begins today to students at Kapa’a Elementary School, where they are expected to be sharing their culture.
The visiting group is made up of 23 Tahitian students and 12 adults.
