WAIMEA — On Wednesday, a blessing was held for the new 2,000 square foot facility in the West Kauai Technology Center Phase II in Waimea.
This facility is home to the Kauai Branch of the Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) Pacific Technology Division Science Reconnaissance and Surveillance Operation (RSO).
“Moving into the new office positions us much closer to our principal Kaua’i customer, Pacific Missile Range Facility, and strengthens our commitment to growing our presence in this area,” said Dr. Clay Stewart, SAIC corporate vice president and manager of the RSO.
“We also are in the process of building the new Pacific Technology Division of SAIC to help us better focus on Hawai’i’s high technology business.”
SAIC is the nation’s largest employee-owned research and engineering company, providing information technology, systems integration and eSolutions to commercial and government customers.
SAIC engineers and scientists work to solve complex technical problems in national and homeland security, energy, the environment, space, telecommunications, health care, and logistics.
With annual revenues of $5.9 billion, SAIC and its subsidiaries, including Telcordia Technologies, have more than 42,000 employees at offices in more than 150 cities worldwide.
SAIC opened a new branch office in Waimea in 2001.
The opening was part of the Phase 2 West Kauai Technology Park project.
It was established by SAIC’s Technology Research Group’s (TRG) Reconnaissance and Surveillance Operation (RSO).
SAIC began in 1969 and was founded by Dr. J.R. Beyster.
Currently, SAIC and its subsidiaries have more than 42,000 employees with offices in over 150 cities worldwide.
The Corporation achieved revenues of $5.9 billion in 2003, reflecting a growth rate of two percent over 2002 revenues of $5.8 billion.
SAIC to reorganize
SAIC Tuesday announced a company-wide reorganization that will consolidate federal and Department of Defense business segments into business units which are better aligned to key markets and customers, and create a stronger corporate team.
The reorganization results in fewer, but larger business units.
