Jake Chrisman Pac West co-player of the week
LA’IE, HI – Brigham Young University-Hawai’i junior forward Jake Chrisman has been named the Pacific West Conference Co-Player of the Week for his performance in three conference games last week marking the third time the conference has recognized Chrisman this season.
He won the award outright on Dec. 15, and shared it with teammate Shawn Opunui the following week.
Chrisman shares this week’s honor with University of Hawai’i-Hilo’s Ryan Abrahams.
Chrisman, from Provo, Utah, knocked down a game-winning jumper with six second left to give BYU-Hawai’i an important 91-90 conference win over Montana State-Billings on Saturday. He scored 30 points in the game against the Yellowjackets and 39 more in a pair of wins over Western New Mexico earlier in the week to average 23 points per game for the week.
Aribon holds off Morales in R/C races
Twelve-year-old Seth Morales opened 2004 in style as he drove his nitro sedan to take the top qualifier of the day at the first race of 2004 held Sunday in the back parking lot of the Big Kmart store.
However, Morales fell short of beating out Reggie Aribon for the top slot in the Nitro Sedan A mains.
Bart Ovales’ consistent driving got him the top slot in the Nitro Sedan B mains, with Bongo Gorospe topping the Nitro Truck division.
The Garden Isle R/C Racers would like to extend their appreciation to Jarrett Chytka, general manager of the Big Kmart, for the use of the back parking lot for their races.
The next race will be held on Jan. 25 at the Wailua off-road track starting at 11 a.m.
Admission is free.
For more information, contact Arnold at 821-8132, or 639-9314.
