Ernie Barreira was recently awarded the coveted Bassmaster of the Year 2003 at the Annual Awards Banquet for the Garden Isle Bassmasters held at the Hanamaulu Cafe and Tea House.
Barreira also captured his third consecutive Master Angler of Year Award as well as taking second place honors for the 2003 Tournament of Champions.
Jesse Akagi earned second place honors for the Angler of the Year edging out Bill Kisken who ended in third place.
Kisken was the first place winner for the 2003 Tournament of Champions and was selected as the 2003 Most Improved Angler of the Year.
The club also announced the Top Six Anglers of the Year which included Barreira, Akagi, Kisken, Al Castillo, Jr., Tom French, and Kevin Huff.
The Garden Isle Basmasters is a competitive freshwater sport fishing and conservation organization, and is a charter member of the nationally recognized Bass Anglers Sportsman Society.
