Kyle Zakahi, a Kaua’i native, has returned to the island to manage the first Jamba Juice location, which opens this morning at Kukui Grove Center.
Zakahi, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Zakahi of Lihu’e, was appointed general manager. Zakahi began his career with Jamba Juice in 2000 as a team member, just after graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in finance.
After working as a team member at Jamba Juice Pearlridge Center, he was promoted to team lead in January 2001, and then to assistant manager in November 2001.
He was then promoted to general manager of the Jamba Juice Airport Trade Center on O’ahu before he was hand-chosen to return home to open the first Jamba Juice location on Kaua’i.
Jamba Juice is the popular seller of all-natural, blended-to-order smoothies, fresh-squeezed juices and nutritious breads.
A blessing, officiated by George Scott, was held Tuesday afternoon, followed by pandemonium as Jamba Juice products including T-shirts were given away to all comers.
Zakahi officially opened the doors to the island community at 6 a.m. today.
It is the 18th store in Hawai’i.
Jamba Juice Hawai’i is a joint venture between Jamba Juice Company of San Francisco and JJC Hawaii, LLC, and opened its first store in Hawai’i at the Kailua Village Shops in July 1999.
JJC Hawaii currently employs over 400 employees.
Jamba smoothies, juices and baked goods provide a full day’s requirement of a variety of nutrients and vitamins.
