Eight 12 and Under girls basketball teams will kick off their 2004 season starting Tuesday, Jan. 6 at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
The Lihu‘e Sparks and Lihu‘e will inaugurate the season starting at 6 p.m. followed by Wailua taking on Kapa‘a at 7 p.m.
All games in the county’s 12 and Under girls basketball league will be played either at Kalaheo or Kilauea on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
The only exception is Saturday, Jan. 10 when former UH Hilo Vulcan basketball coach Jimmy Yagi hosts his free basketball clinic at the Kapa‘a High School Bernice Hundley Gym. There will be no games on this date.
Teams participating in the league include the Lihu‘e Comets coached by Billy Ramos, the Westside Hornets coached by Maynard Shea, Wailua with coach Talbert Tacbian, the Kaumakani Supersonics with coach Fran Constantino, the Lihu‘e Sparks with coach Kaleo Perez, Lihu‘e with coach Russell Grady, Kilauea with coach Mits Yokotake, and Kapa‘a with coach Jojo Caspillo.
The final game for this league will be on Feb. 12.
