Mariana Gonsalves of Lihu’e, died at home on Dec. 14, 2003 at the age of 93.
Born in ‘Oma’o on Feb. 28, 1910, she was a homemaker.
Preceded in death by husband, John C. Gonsalves and son, John K.R. Gonsalves, she is survived by son, James R. Gonsalves of Kekaha; two daughters, Virginia (Marvin) Perry of Lihu’e and Evangeline Hosino of Hayward, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 35 great-great-grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha; mass at 11 a.m. Followed by burial at the church cemetery. Aloha attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Joseph Tavares Jr.
Joseph M. Tavares Jr., of Kalaheo, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Dec. 21, 2003 at the age of 78.
Born in Lawa’i on July 17, 1925 he was a truck driver for McBryde Sugar Company.
He is survived by his wife, Angela M. Tavares of Kalaheo; three sons, Wallace J. (Dinah) Tavares of Kalaheo, Joseph S. (Debra) Tavares of Wailua, Thomas J. Tavares of ‘Ele’ele, three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Dec. 27, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Holy Cross Church. Service to be officiated by Father Nap Andres at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Veteran’s Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary

Anna Jennie K. Hatori Manoi of Kalaheo, died at her residence on Dec. 19, 2003 at the age of 96. She was born in Honaunau, South Kona on Aug. 22, 1907.
She is survived by her daughter, Josephine Hazel Victor Soto; grandsons, Andrei (Lois) Soto, Irving “Sarge” (Norine) Soto, Stafford (Heide) Soto; grand-daughters, Lorinda “Lori” (Bruce) Cosier, OrianaLee “Ori” K. Soto; great-grandchildren, Ann-Janette (Alika) Toledo, Bricille and Jamieson Cosier, Michelle, Liane, Kalelei, Kailana, Kana’e, Aikoa, Christopher and Janna Soto; great-great-grandsons, Trysen Cosier, Isaiah and Kobe Toledo; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Dec. 29, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church. Eulogy at 10:45 a.m. Mass to follow. Burial at the church cemetery.
