LIHU‘E — Anna Quibilan and Sherri Gebauer split responsibilities on the mound Saturday as they each pitched a game in their double-header win against Kapa‘a at Isenberg Field.
Quibilan picked up the win in the first 15-0 victory while Gebauer got the nod on the 15-1 second win.
But, the big news of the day was the run scored by the Kapa‘a Warriors, their first in the regulation KIF season following four games.
That run came in the top of the third inning in the second contest when Teresa Taylor singled to drive in Sandy Pimental.
The Raiders opened the first game explosively, driving seven runs across the plate before catching their breath.
AJ Silva, the Raiders’ lead-off batter walked, and a steal of second poised her for the opener as Darcie Allianic singled to leftfield, driving in Silva.
Quibilan, handling mound chores, led the first inning hitters with a 2-RBI single, driving home Ashley Nonaka and Samantha Koga.
On Silva’s second at-bat in the inning, the lead-off hitter cranked an RBI single to score rightfielder Whitney Dias.
With no runs in the second inning, the Raiders added a run in the third inning, and closed the door on the win with another seven-run inning in the fourth as they capitalized on Kapa‘a miscues.
Silva had the big bat in that inning, an RBI single moving Dias and Quibilan across the plate.
