I haven’t even really started my holiday shopping and boy am I tired.
Sure, I have waded through masses of people at Wal-Mart, Kukui Grove and Coconut Marketplace.
But those trips were just for show.
Pretty soon, I have to start buying.
I have my lists and I have checked them twice, three times and maybe a fourth. I am searching for that perfect gift.
While I have some ideas, I am still open to suggestions.
There are the usual suspects.
I could go to Wal-Mart or Borders and pick out the newest DVD, CD or book.
Then I could stop by Zales and pick up a fine piece of jewelry.
If I am in the mood to purchase a few articles of clothing, I could venture into Macy’s.
While all of those places sound enticing, something is missing.
What about merchandise that’s a little different, something that is uniquely Hawai‘i.
Well, there are plenty of options around.
What’s for mom?
She has been asking for a necklace, sweater and a painting.
I am not sure the sweater and art is feasible so I will go with the necklace.
The selections are quite extensive as there are jewelry items available at Prestige and Jim Saylor Jewelers.
Maybe I can find that Hawaiian Heirloom ring that I have been looking for.
What about Dad?
Well he needs shirts.
I could go to Hilo Hattie and pick up some Aloha shirts for him. Maybe he wants to take up surfing and needs some accessories.
The options on this island are many.
I could always take a trip to the Hanalei Surf Company and pick up a beginner board.
The most difficult person to shop for is my sister.
What can you get for a 24-year old girl that has just about everything you could imagine?
Women always seem to have a need for more shoes.
Don’t they have a closet full of them anyway? Island Divas recently opened and, from what I hear, has a multitude of shoe options and styles. So much to buy and so little time to get it.
