Kamehameha to play for title of Waimea softball
Host Waimea High School has two wins under their belt following the first day of pool play at the 2003 Waimea High School Thanksgiving Softball Invitational at Waimea Canyon Park.
Waimea picked up their first win on a late-game rally against Waiakea, 8 – 2 before going head-to-head with the Kaimuki Bulldogs and emerging with a 6 – 2 win.
Kaua‘i High School split their two opening games, dropping the first to Mililani 5 – 0, before taking their Maui encounter.
Kapa‘a High School is strapped with two losses, falling to Moanalua and Punahou.
Kamehameha who has won all their games to date, will be playing for the championship against the winner of the Punahou/Iolani matchup that takes place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29.
With the help of Ashley Nonaka, one of the Kaua‘i High School players who is sitting out the tourney due to an injury, updated information on the tournament can be found on page B2.
