Leaders of the Aloha Church, off Kaumuali‘i Highway across from Taco Bell near Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e, are inviting all interested to a free, early-Thanksgiving feast, this Sunday, Nov. 23.
Beginning at 5 p.m. in the church hall, there will be music, food, entertainment, and what Grace Galiza is calling “a vast array of ethnic desserts.”
Everyone is welcome at this free, mahalo dinner, she said.
The purpose of this special dinner is to enable each ‘ohana (family) or individual to have and enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving dinner regardless of economic or social situations, Galiza said.
“Everyone deserves a nicely prepared holiday meal, and we even offer free transportation so they can attend,” she said.
“Every year we see more people come out to be a part of this free dinner blessing for the island of Kaua‘i,” she added.
Church leaders acknowledged trustees of the G.N. Wilcox Trust for their unsolicited donation to the church’s food pantry, as well as the staff and volunteers of the Kauai Food Bank, who help low-income and less-fortunate people place food on their tables, she continued.
Chefs at the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort & Beach Club are roasting the turkeys for dinner, Kentucky Fried Chicken managers are donating the mashed potatoes and gravy, and members of the church ‘ohana are preparing the trimmings and desserts, setting up, and providing the music and entertainment, she added.
