Zecil Kaplan
Zecil Wandel Kaplan of Kapa‘a, who was born Oct. 31, 1916, in Denver, Colo., and married to Sidney Kaplan for 65 years, died peacefully Nov. 13, 2003, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital with her children alongside her.
Mrs. Kaplan loved Kaua‘i and was a 30-year resident. Although her children, nieces and grandchilderen were on the mainland, Mrs. Kaplan had an extended family on Kaua‘i who showed thier love to her faithfully.
She volunteered at the Kauai Museum and loved being taken as a local, proud of her knowledge of the islands.
She is survived by all her friends on Kaua‘i as well as daughters, Robin Silverman and Barbara Kaplan; son Larry Kaplan; hanai daughter, Lucy Kawaihalau; four grandchildren; one great graandchild; nieces and nephews including Susan Abramson and Judy Machanik.
Private services were held and her ashes scattered earlier. The family requests that contributions be made to your favorite charity.

Ernest Wayne Cabral, Jr. of Lawa‘i, died Nov. 13, 2003, at his home in Lawa‘i, at the age of 51.
Born June 1, 1952, in Waimea, he worked at Kukuiolono Golf Course for 30 years as a groundskeeper and maintenance worker.
He is survived by parents: Ernest and Mary Cabral Sr. of Lawai; one sister and caregiver: Donna (Todd) Caberto of Lawai; one brother: Rodney (Kim) Cabral of Aiea; girlfriend Carol Asuncion of Lihu‘e; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua‘i Mortuary.
