Toyoharu “Toyo” Shirai
Toyoharu “Toyo” Shirai of Lihu’e, died at home on Oct. 30, 2003 at the age of 87.
Born in O’ahu on May 5, 1916, he was a retired Golf Pro with Wailua Golf Course.
He is survived by wife, Yoshie; three sons, John (Yong-Cha) Shirai of Honolulu, Samuel M. Shirai of Lihu’e and Arthur M. Shirai of Kent, Wash.; daughter, Martha S. Shirai of Honolulu; brother, Kazuyoshi (Kay) Shirai of Honolulu; two sisters, Yukie Ouchi of Pearl City, O’ahu and Margaret Nakamoto of Kailua, O’ahu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 10-11 a.m. on Sat., Nov. 15, 2003, at the Lihue Christian Church; service officiated by Rev. James Koyama will begin at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.

Mary C. Reis of ‘Ele’ele, Kaua’i, died at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on Nov. 11, 2003, at the age of 96.
Born in ‘Ele’ele, Kaua’i, on Nov. 11, 1907, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by three sons, Alfred (Margaret) Reis of Law’i, Harry (Anne) Reis of ‘Oma’o and Thomas (Dolly) Reis of San Jose, Calif.; two daughters, Mabel (Joseph) Medeiros of Honolulu and Violet (Wallace) Moura of ‘Ele’ele; 22 grandchildren; two sisters, Emily Mendonca of Kapa’a and Adeline Christian of Honolulu; daughter-in-law, Janet Reis of Kekaha; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday Nov. 15, at the ‘Ele’ele Sacred Hearts Catholic church; mass officiated by Father Nap will begin at 11 a.m.
Burial to follow at Holy Cross Catholic church cemetery in Kalaheo. Casual attire is suggested.

Kiyoju Nakamitsu Tachikawa
Kiyoju Nakamitsu Tachikawa of Puhi, died at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on Nov. 5, 2003 at the age of 98.
Born in Koloa, she was a Homemaker.
She is survived by three sons, Edward Tachikawa, Lawrence (Louise) Tachikawa and Robert (Ethel) Tachikawa; daughter, Betty (Walter) Steiger; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were private.
