The Kaua‘i High School girls volleyball team and the Waimea High School boys volleyball team, KIF champions, will see action on Tuesday, Nov. 11 as the 2003 Nissan State Volleyball Championships get underway at the Stan Sheriff Center at the University of Hawai‘i in Manoa.
Both KIF teams were unseeded in the bracket announcements made by the HHSAA (Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association).
Top seed in the girls bracket is Kalani with Punahou in the second seed followed by St. Joseph and Seabury Hall.
Iolani tops the boys bracket followed by Seabury Hall, Kahuku, and Kalakehe of the Big Island.
The Red Raider girls open their bid for the state title on Tuesday, Nov. 11 against the Moanalua Menehune starting at 5 p.m. at the Hemmeter Fieldhouse at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Should the Red Raiders win this opening bid, they will go up against third seeded St. Joseph on Wednesday, Nov. 12 starting at 3:30 p.m.
A loss in their opening bid will relegate Kaua‘i against the loser of the Kamehameha-Maui/Kahuku game.
The Menehune boys will take on the Mililani Trojans on Tuesday, Nov. 11 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the McKinley Gym, also at the Stan Sheriff Center.
A win in their opening bid will move Waimea to play third-seeded Kahuku on Wednesday starting at 8 p.m.
A loss will send the Menehune to battle the loser of the Maui/Campbell encounter on Thursday, Nov. 13 starting at 2 p.m. in the consolation bracket.
