LIHU‘E — The Koloa Packers JPW and the Lihu‘e Patriots JPW each won their respective games over the weekend to bring both teams to the field this weekend for a crucial showdown.
The Packers JPW hold a one-game lead over the Patriots JPW in the division, and a Lihu‘e win this weekend would see co-champions emerge as the Kaua‘i Pop Warner Association enters its final weekend of play Saturday at the Hanapepe Stadium.
Koloa Packers JPW 33, Kekaha Panthers JPW 6
Ross Ozaki opened the scorebooks on a one-yard charge as Koloa Packers took a 33-6 win over the Kekaha Panthers.
Brandon Scovel notched the second Koloa score only to have the Panthers answer on a 12-yard run in the third quarter, but a Calabe Licke pass interception that was run back for a touchdown pushed Koloa ahead with a pass from Caleb Licke to Dalven Lee icing the win.
Koloa Rams 28, Kekaha Seahawks 12
Loren Duarte scored two touchdowns as the Koloa Rams surged ahead of the Kekaha Seahawks 28-12.
Duarte peeled off 71 yards for the first score and followed it up with an eight-yarder.
Koloa’s remaining scores came from Drake Humiston scoring on a pass from Dustin Prem and Aston Carbonel hitting paydirt from 22 yards out.
Max Agor and Kalani Fernandez hit paydirt for the Seahawks.
Koloa Raiders 8, Kekaha Chargers 20
Kai Reyes scored three touchdowns to lead the Kekaha Chargers to a 20-8 win over the Koloa Raiders, Reyes breaking through for scores of three and 10 yards with Allen Pancho doing the point-after honors.
Duke Dasalia scored Koloa’s only TD.
Lihu‘e Patriots 6, Northshore Na Ali‘i 0

That’s how Pop Warner commissioner Leon Gonsalves, Sr. described the action in this junior PeeWee contest between Lihu‘e and Northshore as Tarin Tani of the Patriots scored the lone touchdown on a one-yard plunge, the PAT failing.
Tani and Austin Oshiro led the Lihu‘e offensive effort.
Na Ali‘i drove the ball into the red zone, but failed to convert.
Kapa‘a Junior Warriors JPW 0, Hanapepe Colts, 6
The Kapa‘a Junior Warriors held the second place Hanapepe Colts to three scoreless quarters of football until the Colts’ Torrey Santiago threw a halfback pass to Clifton Callejo who entered the end zone for the score.
B.J. Aiwohi, Dalton Thronas, Andrew Panoke headed up the Kapa‘a offense who were kept out of the scorebooks by the Hanapepe defense led by Stetson Igne, Jace Delos Reyes, Taylen Acoba, Keoni Ana, Santiago, and Micah Rita.
The Colts trail the league-leading Koloa Packers with both teams seeing their final action this weekend.

Cole Parongao scored two TD’s to lead the PeeWee Colts to their 16-0 win over Kapa‘a with Cody Owen booting the point-after.
Kapa‘a Vikings 13, Hanapepe Colts 34
“Yellow shoes” Alan-Michael Gaspar led the scoring for the Hanapepe Colts midget team in their 34-13 win over Kapa‘a.
Gaspar and Kaawila Bongolan tapped paydirt for Hanapepe while Vikings got into the end zone on a fumble recovery that was swept up by Brandon Chong who galloped 55 yards for the score.
Adam Gusman connected with Gage Gusman for the second Kapa‘a TD.
The Hanapepe Colts wrap up their season this weekend when they take on the Kekaha Chargers, head coaches of both teams being brothers.
The games move to Hanapepe Stadium with the first kickoff going off at 8 a.m. and the final game starting at 8 p.m. Regional playoffs and bowl games will be coming up later in the month with final schedules available by next week.
