In preparation for the 2004 Legislative Session, state Sen. Gary Hooser, D-Kaua‘i-Ni‘ihau, is planning a series of community meetings this month.
The meetings are scheduled to be held at the following dates and times at various county public facilities:
Monday, Nov. 10: Kekaha Neighborhood Center, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.;
Monday, Nov. 17: Koloa Neighborhood Center, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.;
Thursday, Nov. 20: Hanapepe Recreation Center, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.;
Monday, Nov. 24: Lihu‘e Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.;
Tuesday, Nov. 25: Kilauea Neighborhood Center, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.;
Wednesday, Nov. 26: Kapa‘a Neighborhood Center, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Ideas and concerns brought forth by the community at these meetings may result in legislation to be introduced during the 2004 session of the state Legislature, according to Hooser.
Additional individual meetings are also being scheduled directly with various island-wide community groups, including PTSA, school principals and teachers, fishing groups, farmers, business leaders and others, he said.
