Dozens of children accompanied by their parents and grandparents received a reading and arts boost Saturday at the Kauai Keiki Story Festival.
The event featured childrens entertainers Leon and Malia from Honolulu, and a gigantic whale courtesy of the Hanapepe-based Storybook Theater and its director Mark Jeffers.
Mayor Bryan Baptiste attended the event, posing for pictures with the keiki.
Readers included Councilman Mel Rapozo and others who read from books to small groups of children.
A wide variety of authors and craftspeople also provided displays and hands-on activities.
The event was co-sponsored by the County of Kaua‘i and the Read To Me International Foundation.
