Ksea bids aloha to Kaua‘i listeners
Mahalo to everyone who listened to my radio show on KONG-FM 93.5 during the 5 years, 9 weeks and 2 days I was on the air. I had planned a farewell show on Tuesday, Sept. 30 (after being laid off due to economic cutbacks), but unfortunately, I had that opportunity taken away from me.
So to anyone who ever called in a request, dedication, lost or found animal or possession, traffic problem, island event, to share your mana‘o or just to talk story, thank you for those moments we shared. Thank you to Mr. John Detz, owner and CEO of the KONG radio group for allowing me the privilege of being on the air and meeting so many wonderful people like J.R. and family. Mike in Hanalei, R.J., Big Larry and the north 40 crew, Dave, Bill, Glenn, Leonard Vegas and ohana, Francine, Angela, Windy, Shan, Jackie, Tiffany and ohana, Josiah and ohana, all the great businesses and restaurants that called in, The Garden Island newspaper staff (especially my #1 fan), Ka‘iulani, Jim & Aukai, Uncle Jimmy and Auntie Marie Torio, Morris da cat, Spiderman ^ ohana. Thank you to Lehua, Shilo Pa, Tommy & Malia, Malani, Chucky boy Chock, the Kaholokula ohana, Ricky (Mr. Band) Skerik and the Rev. Bev, just to name some of the great local talent that came my way as music director. Mahalo to present and former KONG employees for your support over the years, especially Ed Ka‘ahea, Chris R. and Richard.
To anyone else I couldn’t name here, mahalo nui loa for letting me play the music and keep you informed. It was the time of my life, “da bomb,” and so are you Kauai!
In the words of Brudda Iz, “In dis life, I was loved by you.”
A hui hou,

The rape continues
We’re very concerned about the violations of the Grading and Grubbing Permit regarding the roadway that is being cut above the north bank of Puukumu Stream — mauka side of Kuhio Hwy just past the Kalihiwai Bridge on the North Shore.
Ray Chuan has documented with photos the violations, yet no “Notice of Violations” has been issued by PW. If you haven’t seen the photos, please let me know, and I’ll send them to you.
We’re so frustrated as we continue to witness the callous disregard for the aina that some have as they continue to rape the precious land of Kaua‘i.
Please let me know what is being done to stop, then correct with meaningful measures, this latest travesty.
This has got to stop!
Sincerely,
Tony Allen
