It was a huge family affair when the children of Juanita Castro Locke threw her a rather large retirement party at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center recently.
She recently retired after 25 years of service for civilian contractor ITT at the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands, west of Kekaha.
The party was organized by her children: Mark Castro and Janice Castro Pavao of Texas; Steve Castro of Los Angeles; Randy Castro of Colorado; Kurt Castro of Las Vegas; and Remigio Castro Jr. and Roy Castro of Kekaha.
Her brothers, Gil Cayabyab and Mel Cayabyab, along with her nieces and nephews from all over Hawai‘i, also spearheaded the event.
All of the immediate family members were adorned in identical blue aloha shirts.
Special out-of-town guests included Emelia Rupisan of Las Vegas; Kay Locke from New Hampshire, her mother in law; Sara Lions of Boston; Evelyn Santiago and sons of Vallejo, Calif.; Jeff and Violy Lindner and girls, from Colorado; Joe and Marjorie Jerels of Texas
She and husband George Locke will relocate to Las Vegas to be closer to many of her children, she said.
