The Kaua‘i Police Commission met in Council Chambers in the Historic County Building Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. to evaluate a member, officer, or employee of the Kaua‘i Police Department.
After opening the meeting, the commission went into executive session, in order to protect the privacy of the person being evaluated, pursuant to state law.
After over two hours in executive session, attorney David Proudfoot announced the board decided to continue the matter to next week. A special police commission meeting is now set for Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 1:30 p.m. The regular police commission meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 17.
The only business on the Tuesday meeting agenda was “the consideration of the hire, employment status, dismissal, removal, or discipline of a member, officer or employee of the Kaua‘i Police Department, or of charges that might be brought against the member, officer, or employee.”
No Kaua‘i Police Department employee was present for the meeting. Kaua‘i Mayor Bryan J. Baptiste joined the commission members for about half an hour, after the executive session had been in session for about an hour. He sat in Police Chief George Freitas’ regular seat.
