PO‘IPU — Tickets are now available for the 2003 PGA Grand Slam of Golf on Kaua‘i with the final championship round taking place on Saturday, Dec. 6.
This is a departure from the mid-week dates of previous years.
The event will take place Friday, Dec. 5 for first round play and Saturday, Dec. 6 for the championship. The competition round will be preceded on Wednesday, Dec. 4 with the Pro Am tournament.
Ticket prices are $10 for the Pro Am, $20 for first round play and $20 for final round play, or $40 for season tickets covering all three days.
The PGA Grand Slam of Golf has the most difficult entry requirement of any event in golf. The PGA of America invites only the winners of the four major championships – the Masters, the U.S. Open, the British Open, and the PGA Championship to compete in the event for a $1 million purse.
This year’s competitors are 2003 Masters champion Mike Weir, U.S. Open champion Jim Furyk, British Open champion Ben Curtis and 2003 PGA Championship winner Shaun Micheel. This is the first year that four first-time major champions have competed in the event.
When play begins on the Pro Am tournament Dec. 5, the PGA Grand Slam will celebrate its 10th consecutive year of being hosted by the Poipu Bay Golf Course and the Hyatt Regency Kaua‘i Resort and Spa.
TNT, one of Turner Broadcasting System’s most prominent networks, will televise the event to more than 86.7 million U.S. homes, and more than 100 countries around the world in a prime-time telecast.
Tickets are available by calling 1-800-PGA-TCKT (742-8258), or online at http://www.PGA.com.
