Despite the efforts of Loren Duarte, Lester Domingo and the Koloa Rams’ defensive unit, the Lihu‘e Patriots Peewees broke open the door to the end zone to take sole possession of that division’s lead with a 36-14 win over Koloa last Saturday at Hanapepe Stadium.
Paleku Yasay, Devin Lopes, and Kalapaki Ellis led the Patriots’ scoring effort, combining with tough defense that held the Rams scoreless until the final quarter of the much-anticipated contest.
Duarte and Aston Carbonel tallied the Koloa scores.
Kekaha Panthers JPW 0, Hanapepe Colts JPW 20
Clifton Callejo ran, and Micah Rita threw to Mikeo Rita as the Hanapepe Colts blanked the Kekaha Panthers, 20-0 to share a tie with the Koloa Packers in this division, Koloa having a 19-0 win over the Lihu‘e Patriots JPW.
Kekaha Sea Hawks 6, Hanapepe Colts PW 6
Max Agor capped a Kekaha scoring drive aided by the running of Cole Parangao and Aaron Ramos as the Sea Hawks tied the Hanapepe Colts PW in a defensive slugfest.
Kekaha Chargers Midgets 8, Hanapepe Colt Midgets 14
Christopher Newcomb scored for the Kekaha Chargers Midgets, but was answered by scored from Alden Lahip and Kyle Achuela as the Hanapepe Colt Midgets edged Kekaha 14-8 in a game filled with long drives that sputtered on turnovers and punts.

The Koloa Packers JPW dominated the contest behind the running of Kylee Rapacon, Mikey Blackstad, and Isaac Tehero.
Austin Oshiro and Isaac Ramboyan tried to break the end zone, but fell short giving Koloa a tie with the Hanapepe Colts JPW with the 19-0 victory.
Koloa Raiders 8, Lihu‘e Patriots Midgets 30
The Lihu‘e Patriots Midgets team kept their undefeated streak alive with a 30-8 win over the Koloa Raiders, Bendon Young, Travis Nakamura and Andrew Renaud driving in scores.
Koloa attempted to score early in the contest, but their drives stalled giving Lihu‘e sole possession of the lead in the Midget division.
Following Saturday’s games, Lihu‘e controls both the Peewee and Midget divisions with Koloa Packers and the Hanapepe Colts sharing the lead in the Junior Peewee division.
This Saturday’s games continue at Hanapepe Stadium with the first game starting at 10 a.m. and the final Pop Warner contest starting at 4 p.m.
Al Ah Loo and the Kaua‘i Cowboys semi-pro adult football team will play a special fund-raising exhibition contest starting at 6 p.m. Their opponent will be the Hawaiian Warriors from O‘ahu.
Ah Loo said all the proceeds from this game will benefit the Kaua‘i Pop Warner Association, and tickets can be bought from any of the many Pop Warner players and their families.
