Dade Apao scored twice to lead the Lihu‘e Ball Busters to their 5-2 win over the Lihu‘e Titans in AYSO U10 Boys soccer that was played Saturday at the North Vidinha fields.
Adding to the Ball Busters’ score were Dre Andres, Chevas Takasaki, Matt Kono, and Pono Pascua.
Hanapepe Dragons, Lihu‘e Raptors
The Dragons got their clue from the “scorching hot, no clouds, no breeze, and humid” conditions at Hanapepe to light up everything as Justin Silva broke the ice early in the first quarter assisted by outstanding defensive play from Kekoa Tacub and John Cachero, Jr.
The “instant sunburn” conditions continued as Kaleo Hauata received the outstanding player of the game award for his two goals as well as his pair of blocks against the Raptors in the third quarter.
Fullback Brock Tacata and goalie Jason Medeiros worked in tandem to block three Raptor goal attempts in the final quarter.
Kapa‘a Tornadoes, Wailua Red Bulls
The Tornadoes tore up the Kapahi fields as Mason Mendoza whipped through the Bulls’ defense for multiple scores along with DJ Lacaden.
Dylan Koerte also fired in some goals with Eli Lee-Kritchman and Shawn Yamane putting in some outstanding play for Kapa‘a.
Red Bull Larry Rupert had his photo taken after a goal as Kobe Nagahisa battled not only Tornado defenders, but a cold as well, hustling a goal for his efforts. Treston Nagahisa displayed strong defense, and Coleman Langstaff, despite a strong showing early, was strapped to the bench due to an injury in the game.
