Watch more than 400 women including three Kaua‘i teams will compete from Hawai‘i, California and Tahiti cross 41 miles of open ocean in the Hawai‘i Modular Space Na Wahine O Ke Kai, which starts Sunday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 a.m. from Hale O Lono Harbor on Moloka‘i.
This long-distance race is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
The teams will cross the finish line at the Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki; post-race festivities at the Ocean Club. For live updates, tune your radio to Hawaiian 105 KINE (105.1 FM). Jr. tennis clinics set for Kaua‘i youth
Junior Tennis Clinics, a 1-2-3 Tennis Program for youth aged between 7-12 years old will be held at the following locations for continuous six-week sessions beginning Sept. 24.
Introductory-Level I (Beginners) will meet Mondays from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the Wailua Homesteads Courts, Wednesdays from 3 – 4 p.m. at the Hanapepe Courts, and Wednesdays from 3 – 4 p.m. at the Lihu‘e Courts.
Accelerated Level II (Intermediate/Advanced) classes will meet Mondays from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Wailua Homesteads Courts.
Enrollment is limited.
The 1-2-3 Tennis Program is sponsored by the County of Kaua‘i under the direction of Kaua‘i District Tennis Association (KDTA), and the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

Kaua‘i All-Girls Rodeo Sunday
The State Championship Rodeo is set for 10 a.m. at CJM Country Stables in Po‘ipu.
Aloha Festivals Royal Court will make an appearance at noon. The event promotes the sport of rodeo, as done in Hawai‘i for generations by the Hawaiian paniolo. Call Melissa 245-8545, Wendy 742-5229.
BYUH volleyball No. 2 in NCAA II
LAIE, HI — The Brigham Young University – Hawai‘i women’s volleyball team remained second in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 poll released on Tuesday.
The Seasiders, idle last week, lost three first place votes and four points from last week, but still hold a 36-point lead, 794 to 758, over Cal State-San Bernardino who moved up from fourth to third this week.
UC-San Diego, with two victories during the week, held firm in the top spot with 30 first place votes, and 870 points.
With Western Washington holding down a tie for the sixth spot, the Pacific Region boasts four of the top seven teams in the country.
Additionally, Hawai‘i Pacific is tied for 15th, and Cal State-Los Angeles is at number 25 giving the Pacific Region nearly a third of the ranked teams.
The Seasiders get back to the court this week with matches at Western New Mexico on both Friday and Saturday. BYUH then travels to Montana State-Billings for matches on Monday and Tuesday.
