Women’s Health the Easy Way is the title of a free discussion set for tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 18, beginning at 6 p.m. at the West Kaua‘i Medical Center at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea.
Virginia Beck, women’s health nurse practitioner at the facilities, will offer a variety of fun, entertaining, low-stress ways to learn more about women’s health and women’s-health screenings.
She will present up-to-date information about easy, low-stress ways to increase health and lower risks.
Beck will offer information about how to whip up quick, easy and healthy meals; why women need not be afraid of breast cancer (heart disease and diabetes are greater health risks, but women worry about them less than breast cancer, she says), Pap smears and breast examinations; and ways to effectively deal with stress.
September is Women’s Health Month, and women hear many different messages about health risks and how to reduce them, she said.
Since enjoying healthy foods and exercise are important methods for ensuring health, the evening will feature healthy refreshments donated by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., a West Kaua‘i business. Pioneer also supports women’s health by giving employees time off to attend certain screening exams, she said.
Space is limited. Please call 335-0579 and ask for Beck, for reservations and more information.
