In regards to ICE
The law makers and enforcers alike are following the pace against drugs which has been in place for over 30 years and has proved to be unsuccessful and an extreme expense to tax payers.
Force treats symptoms only and eventually loses its power as self-esteem dwindles.
To quote Auntie Sarah in regards to the banyan tree dilemma and apply it to the ICE issue — “Everybody should get out of the way and let nature take care of its own.”
This wisdom applied to drug use would lead the drug-addicted U.S. to the path of most European countries whose drug problem has impressionably dropped since acting without force but with life enhancing means — and basically legalizing drugs. Crimes including burglaries and violent crimes have decreased 80% in the past 6 years. Monies saved from fighting the drug war is applied to supporting positive change in the individual by change in lifestyle including diet, habitual thinking and use of yoga.
Suppression has and never will produce the end result of the personal freedom of mind we all seek.
I suspect as in all other cultures that the suppressed of spirit are the greatest abusers on the islands — those who consider themselves victims.
In order to change any distructive behavior one must nurture and encourage self acceptance — and self acceptance does not come through suppression of “bad” behavior but by encouraging ones goodness. The nature of human is kindness — yet memorable behavior emphasizes our fearful re-action thus negativity toward so-called negative habits.

I agree that use of biocides along our roadways (and in our yards, gardens, golf courses and farms) should be minimized and I have a follow-up query: In addition to the meetings, committee-forming and peoples’ testimony, is anyone actually out there getting rid of the weeds using alternative methods such as pulling them by hand, mowing or weed-wacking? It seems that this would put action into words!
