A fundraiser for 11-year-old Cody Kangiser was held Sunday, and featured a ride by motorcycle enthusiasts to help raise funds for the boy’s medical treatment.
Kangiser lives in Oregon, but his mother, Laurel Naomi Asai, was born and raised on Kaua‘i. He has a large extended family on Kaua‘i, and his maternal grandparents are Lawrence “Blackie” Asai and Midge Kaneholani Asai of Kaua‘i.
The boy suffers from malignant tumors in his pituary and pineal glands. In addition to holding a prayer service for the boy, the motorcyclists went out on a fundraising ride to help pay for his medical treatment.
Earlier this year a softball tournament was held to help the boy. Car washes and other fundraising events have also been held.
Among prizes contributed for the fundraiser Sunday was a special Harley Davidson 100th anniversary commemorative jacket.
