A little overreaction to Poipu Beach Rotary Club’s humorous Spam musubi construction project at the Farm Fair?
Yes, of course the snack is unhealthy for diabetics. It’s not so great for the rest of us, either. Have you ever heard a dietician recommend Spam in any context?!
Contest organizers were not feeding musubi to diabetics, nor were they even recommending that diabetics eat any. (My dad is diabetic, so I understand the related health concerns.) The event was a successful fund-raiser for the Diabetes Association, not a dinner suggestion to its clients.
