New BYU AD named
Ken Wagner has been named as the new athletic director for Brigham Young University-Hawai‘i.
Mike Apo and Dawn Kurihara has been named as assistant directors. Wagner, who served as the Seasiders’ athletic director from 1992-2000, replaces Randy Day who has resigned to concentrate on his teaching duties.
Kurihara was also named the senior women’s administrator in the BYU-Hawai‘i athletic department. Wagner will continue to serve as the head coach of the men’s basketball team where he has compiled a 250-130 record in 13 years, and has taken the team to the NCAA II Regional Championships in three of the last four seasons.
Kurihara will continue in her current position as head trainer in the athletic department where she is in her tenth year for the Seasiders.
Apo will remain as the facilities coordinator and associate volleyball coach. Apo, a BYU-Hawai‘i graduate, has been at the school since 1991 in his current tenure.

In TGI’s sports section for Monday, Sept. 8, it was incorrectly noted that Richard Morris is the Pop Warner League president.
Morris is the newly-appointed League Manager. In addition, Leon Gonsalves serves as league commissioner, Cherie Linoz is cheer coordinator, Susan Oshiro is treasurer, Jane Garma is league secretary, and Abe Makanui is the Kaua‘i Pop Warner League president.
