Koloa Pop Warner Association swept their first week of gridiron action while the Lihu‘e association ended up winning two of their three games as the Kaua‘i Pop Warner Association kicked off its 2003 season last weekend.
In Saturday’s opening day action, Hanapepe blanked Northshore 19-0 followed by the Kekaha Panthers shutting down the Lihu‘e Patriots’ Jr. PeeWees, 12-0.
The Lihu‘e Patriots charged onto the field with a 28-0 blanking of the Kekaha Seahawks in PeeWee action with the Patriots’ midget team besting the Kekaha Chargers 29-12.
Sunday’s action moved to Hanapepe Stadium where the Koloa Packers opened on a winning note with their 20-0 win over the Kapa‘a Jr. Warriors who put up a good struggle highlighted by runs from B.J. Aiwohi and Dalton Thronas with a nice defensive turnover by Kevin Cremer.
The Koloa Rams continued the Koloa winning streak with a 24-0 victory over the Kapa‘a PeeWee squad, and Koloa iced their win with a 6-0 blanking of the Kapa‘a Vikings in the midget contest.
The Kaua‘i Pop Warner Association is headed by the following personnel.
Richard Morris is the appointed League Manager; Leon Gonsalves serves as League Commissioner, Cherie Linoz is the Cheer Coordinator, Susan Oshiro serves as Treasurer, Jane Garma is the League Secretary and Abe Makanui is the association President.
